A great way to get the benefits of coconut oil and get a great exfoliation at the same time is with coconut body scrubs. The variations are endless.
You can start with coconut oil and sugar or salt, and then add various ingredients to suit your mood and your skin. Essentially, you want to warm the coconut oil so it is easy to incorporate the other ingredients and then after mixing leave the scrub at room temperature to firm up a bit before using.
To warm the coconut oil, simply place it in a mason jar, seal the jar and set it in a pan of warm to medium hot water for five minutes or so.

These are very simple and don’t require a great deal of explanation. Just combine the ingredients in a bowl and mix with a fork, your fingers or a hand mixer for a few minutes until well blended.
A pastry cutter also works well for ‘cutting in’ the coconut oil if you choose not to melt it first. Once it’s all well mixed, take your little bowl of scrub and head off to the shower.

Sweet Vanilla Coconut Body Scrubs
Ingredients
- ½ cup coconut oil
- ½ cup organic coconut or brown sugar
- ½ tsp. vanilla extract (or homemade vanilla vodka)
Magnesium Coconut Body Scrubs
Ingredients
- 1 cup coconut oil
- ¾ cup Epsom salts
- Essential oils of your choice: Peppermint, Sweet Orange, Lemon, Lavender, Rosemary, Cedar Wood (7 to 8 drops each)
Put the Lime in the Coconut Body Scrubs
Ingredients
- ½ cup coconut oil
- 1 cup organic granulated or coconut sugar
- Zest and juice from one lime
- You can also add lime essential oil
