Holiday Eggnog Smoothie

I do not usually put eggs into my smoothie, but this recipe is an exception. To celebrate a holiday, you should try this holiday eggnog smoothie at home.

  • Servings: 2
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes plus freezing time for bananas

Recipe 1:

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raw milk or homemade coconut milk
  • 2 large pastured eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. coconut oil, melted
  • 2 Tbsp. coconut cream or raw dairy cream
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp. ground ginger
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • Pinch of high mineral sea salt
  • 2 frozen ripe bananas

Directions:

Place milk, eggs, coconut oil, cream, spices and salt in blender and blend until thoroughly mixed. Add chunks of frozen banana and blend again until smooth. Top with a dollop of fresh raw cream, a sprinkle of shredded coconut and a dash of nutmeg. Delicious and super nutritious.

Recipe 2 (without coconut):

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup eggnog (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 ripe banana, peeled and frozen
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (optional, adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • If you haven’t already, freeze the banana. Freezing adds a creamy texture to the smoothie.
  2. Blend the Ingredients:
    • In a blender, combine the eggnog, frozen banana, Greek yogurt, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, vanilla extract, and maple syrup or honey (if using).
    • If you like your smoothie colder or thicker, you can add a handful of ice cubes.
  3. Blend Until Smooth:
    • Blend all the ingredients until smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick, you can add more eggnog or a splash of milk to reach your desired consistency.
  4. Taste and Adjust:
    • Taste the smoothie and adjust the sweetness or spice levels according to your preference. You can add more cinnamon, nutmeg, or sweetener as needed.
  5. Serve:
    • Pour the smoothie into glasses and garnish with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon or nutmeg on top.
  6. Optional Garnishes:
    • For an extra festive touch, you can add a dollop of whipped cream on top or a dusting of additional cinnamon or nutmeg.
  7. Enjoy:
    • Sip and enjoy your Holiday Eggnog Smoothie! It’s a festive and nutritious treat perfect for the holiday season.

Note: this recipe calls for fresh raw eggs. Do not make this recipe with commercially produced eggs. There is a much higher incidence of disease and bacteria in eggs from commercially factory raised chickens than from small farm raised chickens.

So know your egg farmer (or raise your own chickens) before attempting this recipe. There is plenty you can learn about eggs by doing some online reading.

Going warmer for the colder weather, you can try the following recipe Hot Cocoa Coconut Style.
